About

My name is Kalliat Valsaraj and I am a Professor (emeritus) of chemical engineering at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. My research areas are environmental chemical engineering otherwise known as Environmental Chemodynamics and related to understanding the fate and transport of chemicals in air, water, soil and all biota. I am also a bird and wildlife photographer interested in using the medium for my research into environmental conservation efforts. I have published over 200 peer-reviewed journal papers and mentored over 35 graduate students towards their M.S. and Ph.D. Degrees.

I have traveled around the world to most continents and several countries where I have gone birding and documented birds through my photography pursuits. I started with Canon photography equipment and for the last five years moved to Olympus (now OM Systems) photography equipment although I still occasionally use Canon cameras and lenses.
